Forest Rest Houses in Jim Corbett National Park
There are
many forest rest houses are located inside of Jim Corbett
National Park, These rest houses are operated by forest
department & provide sty for wildlife lovers & tourists.
Rest Houses : Dhikala Zone
Dhikala is most famous zone in Corbett national park. Dhikala is situated
on the edge of Patli Dun valley , Ramganga river flows in
numerous channels from Patli Dun valley. Dhikala Forest Lodge
provides an
awesome panoramic view of the Patil Dun valley, with the
Kanda ridge in the backdrop. This sight looks more beautiful
from the watchtower near Dhikala. The Dhikala Tourist Complex /
Forest lodge overlooks Dhikala chaur & Phulai Chaur , Dhikala
Chaur is one of the largest remaining grasslands
of the corbett Park. A Safari drive through the numerous
trails through these chaurs is resulted in sightings of wild
elephants, chital, hog deer etc. Old forest rest house at Dhikala is a historic
structure, Old building of Dhikala was built over a hundred years ago.
Sarapduli:
Sarapduli rest house is situated near Dhangarhi-Dhikala road.
Sarapduli rest house is located downstream of Gairal on the flat southern bank of the Ramganga
river . Movement of
tigers, elephants is quite high at Sarapduli. Sarapduli is also
a nice place for bird watching & Crocodiles watching.
Sultan:
Sultan is the very first forest rest house during the drive from Dhangarhi to Dhikala.
Sultan is named after the Sultan Sot, Sultan Sot is the
name of seasonal stream running through that area. Sultan is inn dense
forest area and is located in one of the best stretches in the
Corbett National Park.
Gairal:
Gairal rest house can be
reached by a short tour from the Dhangarhi-Dhikala main forest
road. Gairal lies on the banks of the Ramganga river near the
place where Ramganga river first enters the corbett Park. Near Gairal the Ramganga
river shows a different image than it does at places downstream (like Dhikala).
At Gairal, Ramganga's water is a crystal-clear, Here Ramganga is
acting like fast-flowing mountain river flowing through
beautiful forests.
Khinnanauli:
Khinnanauli is located in the middle of Khinnanauli chaur,
Khinnanauli rest house is an great tiger territory. Khinnanauli is
a newly built rest house in corbett park, Khinnanauli's
perfect
location provides an easy getaway to all parts of the corbett Park.
Kanda:
Kanda is situated in the northern
part of the corbett Park ,Overlooking the great Himalayas. Kanda is the highest rest
house in the corbett Park at about 1100 m. , Due to Kanda's
elevation tourist can have a bird’s-eye view of the
Corbett Park . Himalayan wildlife animals like goral, Himalayan black bear and leopards
are found here. Though the road to Kanda is bumpy and narrow but surroundings
are extremely serene.
Rest Houses : Bijrani Zone
Malani:
Malani rest house is located at 12 km northwest of Bijrani.
Malani is situated on the edge of the core zone of the Corbett Park, Malani
rest house
offers picturesque surroundings .The drive to Malani is quite
interesting and tourist can spot many wild animals here.
Bijrani:
Bijrani was once used as shooting block. In British period
Bijrani was famous for hunting. In
comparison to Dhikala, the terrains at Bijrani rest house are drier and also
has more diverse vegetation.
Rest House : Jhirna Zone
Jhirna:
Jhirna rest house is located just
inside the southern boundary of the Corbett Park. The Jhirna rest house
is located on
the road from Ramnagar to Kalagarh that runs in an east-west
direction through the Corbett Park. The landscapes are drier than in Dhikala and vegetations
are mostly scrub. Jhirna was a farming
village until year 1994 when it was successfully relocated under
Project Tiger. The abandoned farmland of Jhirna is
reverting to a wild state and is being managed to develop
grassland habitat. The northern hills to Jhirna are covered with dense
Bamboo forests. Bamboo Forests are very good habitat for king of
Jungle Tiger, Other wild animals like leopard and deer are also
found here.
Rest Houses : Sonanadi Wildlife
Sanctuary
Lohachaur:
Lohachaur rest house is located in the northern part of
Corbett national park in buffer area. Lohachaur is located on the
banks of the river Mandal, stream of river Ramganga. Access to
Lohachaur is from Durga Devi gate of Corbett Park.
Rathuadhab:
Rathuadhab rest house is located in the
northern buffer area of corbett, Rathuadhab is situated on the forest road connecting Durga Devi
to Vatanvasa . Rathauadhab is a favorite spot for wild elephants.
Halduparao:
Halduparao rest house is hundreds years old resthouse of Corbett
Park , Halduparao is located between the Palain and Sonanadi rivers
, Halduparao is situated at short distance from the Ramganga reservoir.
Halduparao lies under the Sonanadi Wildlife
Sanctuary. Halduparao is perfect place to watch wild elephants from close
quarters during summer.
